My thoughts on it all

England is weird.

Apr 8, 2004 / 3 Replies I'm in England right now, and even though you know they drive on the left side of the road, it still freaks you out when you're actually driving. And they don't have been jerky or Cheese-Its here. But best of all, they have "Southern Fried Chicken" Ramen noodles.

Everything is weird. I love it here.

I'm in a pub last night and I bum a cigarette. Plastered across the big sides of the cigarette packs are the statements "CIGARETTES KILL" and "CIGARETTES CAUSE IMPOTENCY". Its great to see that on all the cigarette packs in the liquor store, and a line of people to buy cigs. Gorgeous.

Dvorak is the weirdest thing

Jun 30, 2003 / 39 Replies So I switched over to the Dvorak keyboard the other day and it's seriously the weirdest thing in the world. Just typing this paragraph is taking way too long. I dare you guys to try it. As soon as I figure this thing out, I'm going to try out the pseudo-Dvorak keyboard that was designed for right-handed typing. God this is painful.

Science 101

Jun 23, 2003 / 17 Replies I was reading a book the other day about scientific literacy and whatnot, and it said that of a graduating class of Harvard, 23 random students were asked "Why is it hotter in the summer than in the winter", and only 2 or 3 could correctly answer it. Disgusting, but not really surprising 'cause they're all lawyers and future government leaders. Then I read this:

[quote]Design the wings so that when they become rigid with air, they assume the classic wing profile, a shape that creates lift by redirecting the flow of air downward as it passes over the wing.[/quote]

If this was in a high-school students paper, I wouldn't be too surprised. Maybe in a college undergrads paper. But no, I read it at [link http://www.popsci.com/popsci/aviation/article/0,12543,459355-4,00.html]Popular Science[/link]. The scariest thing about this is that this article is talking about a new type of skydiving piece of equipment that allows you to stay in the air 3 times longer. I just hope that the people designing the suit didn't have this misconception.

Afterthought: Now that I think about it, I just hope I'm right about the entire Bernoulli's Principle thing, and didn't just make a complete fool of myself. But as far as I know, a moving fluid has less pressure than its surrounding fluid, which causes lift in airplane wings, sailboat sails, etc.

1984 Plan. Step one: Ban fun.

Sep 13, 2002 / 0 Replies To enforce [link http://msn.com.com/2100-1103-956357.html]this[/link], they have set up the Ultima sting operation. "The training procedures," which have a striking resemblance to a combination of Battlefield 1942 and Grant Theft Auto 3, "do not qualify as fun. They merely qualify as training programs," stated Greek Prime Minister, quickly adding, "Boo-yah!! Hell yes, I got an airplane. Yes, rocket launcher. Ooh, I'm gonna jack that truck."

Earth and Moon vs. Satellites

Target is pro Nazi?

Aug 29, 2002 / 0 Replies [link http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/retail/2002-08-29-target-recall_x.htm]This[/link] is very possibly the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time. It's like saying that "Three Strike Outs!" or the band 311 means that you're part of the Klan. No offense to all you out there, but this is just going way to far with sensitivity marketing.

Didja know
